If you like cars and/or trucks, you likely have some models that you love. Perhaps there is a particular brand you keep coming back to or a specific car you idolize. You aren’t alone. People love their vehicles, and many have strong opinions. Of course, tastes are subjective, and everyone likes different things. Less subjective, however, are the total sales of cars. These are the four best-selling cars ever.

Ford Model T

It probably comes as no surprise that the Ford Model T is on this list. It is best known for being mass-produced using an assembly line and for selling like hotcakes.

Ford’s major innovations in how this car was produced allowed the brand to offer it for a very reasonable price. Between 1908 and 1927, over 16.5 million units were manufactured and sold. This eclipsed every other vehicle on the market. By 1914, around 90% of the cars on the road were Fords!

The Model T was the first to reach 1, 5, 10 and 15 million units sold. Those are some impressive records.

Lada “Classic”

This vehicle manufactured in the Soviet Union and its successor states achieved impressive numbers if only through longevity. It was built between 1970 and 2012 with few updates. That is an incredibly long run.

The Lada achieved over 17,750,000 units sold. That is quite a bit more than the Fiat 124, the model it was based on.

Volkswagen Beetle

Anyone who knows automotive history knows how big of a splash the Beetle made. Between 1938 and 2003, it sold 21,529,464 units. It was the first vehicle to reach the 20 million mark.

Unlike the Lada, the Volkswagen was repeatedly updated. In 2003, it was finally retired and completely replaced by the “New Beetle,” a complete redesign of the older version.

Toyota Corolla

This is also likely not a surprise. Between 1966 and today, Toyota has sold over 44 million of these. Unlike the above three vehicles, the Corolla had several complete redesigns in its run. Nonetheless, it has more than double the sales of the Beetle. That is something to be proud of.
